LAURENT GARNIER
Le Grand Finale in this year’s special ANTIPOP edition. Few names in this world belong in that slot the same way Laurent Garnier does.
He started at Manchester’s Haçienda in 1987, just as the Madchester movement was taking over. Following a legendary career, France made him a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, the first DJ ever to receive it. Evolving always, he recently launched a monthly show on FIP called [DEEP]Search, built explicitly against the algorithms flattening our musical experience. A more dedicated purveyor of electronic music, we won’t find.
This is Laurent Garnier, so permit us a small discography: Crispy Bacon, The Man With The Red Face, The Sound of Big Babou, Wake Up, Acid Eiffel. Recognise these? We do too.
Thirty-nine years after Manchester and still the one we want closing the Festival.
